CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
HEALTH
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray for God’s provision in securing a more permanent and appropriate location for our programs.

- Pray for the health and protection of both the children and staff we serve each day.

Child Spotlight
Ana came from a challenging family environment that affected both her emotional well-being and her health, often leading to irritability and discomfort. Through the support of the program, our team—alongside our psychologist—walked closely with her mother, helping her seek both medical and psychological care. During this process, a neck condition was discovered that had been causing ongoing pain. With proper treatment and support, Ana began to experience significant improvement at home, at school, and in her overall well-being.
As her health was restored, so was her sense of joy and stability. Ana also began attending church and often shared her dream of being baptized. In March, that dream became a reality as she took that important step of faith. Today, Ana is thriving in this new season. She is healthy, joyful, and full of hope for what lies ahead.
CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
This quarter has held both real challenges and meaningful moments of gratitude in our work. The start of 2026 brought intense heat, with temperatures reaching up to 40°C, which affected the well-being of children, staff, and volunteers alike. We also continued to navigate ongoing electricity disruptions due to load shedding and national equipment issues, which limited daytime power in our office and affected daily operations. Unstable internet connectivity added another layer of difficulty, making communication and coordination more challenging at key moments. However, we are deeply grateful for the resilience of our team and the quiet, steady ways we continue to see God’s faithfulness in the midst of it all.
HEALTH
This quarter, we responded to a measles outbreak that affected around thirty children. Each child received timely attention, was referred to the clinic, and by God’s grace, all have since made a full recovery. We are truly thankful for this outcome and for the quick response of those involved in their care.
We have also seen encouraging progress in strengthening everyday health conditions across our centers. Through the installation of water filtration kits, complete with filters, buckets, and canisters, children now have access to clean drinking water after meals. In a place where safe water is not always guaranteed, this simple addition is making a real difference in reducing illness and supporting consistent school attendance. We are especially grateful to our donors whose generosity made this possible.
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray for God’s continued provision, protection, and guidance over the children, staff, and volunteers we serve
- Pray for the Bible camp taking place during the Easter break, that the Gospel would deeply touch the hearts of both the orphans and the surrounding community
- Pray for wisdom, strength, and creative solutions in the midst of ongoing electricity and internet challenges during this season

Child Spotlight
Delele joined the VisionTrust program in 2018. He is an orphan who lost his father at just three years old and now lives with his grandmother, who works hard but struggles to meet all his needs due to limited resources.
Since joining the program, he has been enrolled in school and faithfully attends orphan meetings where he listens closely to God’s Word. He is attentive and curious, often asking thoughtful questions during Bible lessons. Over time, he has personally responded to the gospel and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He is now taking catechism classes as he prepares for baptism in 2027.
In his own words: “My name is Delele Sharaf Faissal. I live in Ngola 2. This year I am in 5th grade at Gbaloko College. In the first quarter, I got a score of 13.92 out of 20. I thank VisionTrust for supporting me in my studies. Thank you to the donors.”.

SPIRITUAL
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray for families and communities facing economic hardship and instability, that they would experience provision, resilience, and hope in the midst of ongoing challenges.
- Pray for the children and teenagers we serve, that they would be protected from harmful influences and experience transformation through God’s Word, growing in truth, identity, and purpose.
- Pray for our government authorities for wisdom and hearts with integrity to lead our country on the best path.

Child Spotlight
Angelina, the sixth of eight siblings, is the only child in her family with a hearing impairment and was unable to attend school for much of her early life. At age 13, through the encouragement of a counselor from the School for the Deaf, she joined our center and began living with the counselor due to the distance from her home. When Angelina first arrived, she was timid, struggled socially, and faced health challenges, but with medical care, proper nutrition, and a supportive environment, she quickly began to flourish. Within days, she learned to sign and spell her name. Over time, she also mastered numbers and began building her vocabulary at an accelerated pace, showing remarkable growth in literacy and learning.
Just as powerful has been Angelina’s personal transformation. Once frustrated and aggressive due to limited communication, she now shows kindness, asks for forgiveness, and eagerly helps others. Today, she reads short texts, excels in math concepts up to 100, and demonstrates strong understanding across subjects. Angelina is emerging as a confident learner and compassionate leader—her story a beautiful testament to the impact of opportunity, intentional care, and God’s love.
CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
Economic difficulty has marked the beginning of this quarter. Rising fuel costs have affected daily life from transportation to school and work, as well as the increasing cost of basic necessities. What was once manageable now requires hard decisions each day. Food prices have also continued to rise, and for many families, meat is no longer affordable. Most households are doing their best with simple meals of vegetables and eggs, reflecting both resilience and ongoing need. These realities continue to highlight the importance of the nutritional support provided through our programs.
Alongside these challenges, there have been many moments of encouragement we are grateful for. In Cruz Blanca, after a difficult staffing transition, a renewed team has stepped in with energy and care, quickly building trust with parents and students and bringing fresh momentum to the community. In Los Verdes, long-awaited infrastructure improvements are beginning to take shape, offering hope and progress. We are especially thankful for continued generosity that sustains this work, including a recent donation of over 15,000 pounds of vegetables in Cruz Blanca—arriving at a critical time and serving as a powerful and tangible reminder of God’s provision and care.
EDUCATION

Child Spotlight
Sebastián’s early childhood was marked by deep loss. His mother passed away in a violent incident when he was just two years old, and from that moment on, he was raised by his paternal grandparents. He arrived at our school at the age of three, and as he grew, he experienced moments of anger and emotional struggle that were difficult for those around him to understand.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of watching Sebastián’s life be shaped and transformed through his growing relationship with Jesus. Today, he is actively involved in his church in Los Verdes, faithfully serving, praying for his classmates during school devotionals, and even going out to nearby communities to share the gospel. He has served at youth retreats and continues to grow in both faith and leadership. Sebastián’s story is a powerful testimony of transformation—of how God brings healing, purpose, and bold faith even from the most painful beginnings.
CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
While we’re encouraged by ongoing efforts toward economic stability and infrastructure improvements, many families are still carrying the daily weight of inflation, limited resources, and uneven access to basic services. Seasonal rains and poor roads continue to make it difficult for children to reliably reach school and clinics. Rising transportation costs, challenges in retaining strong teachers, and limited learning materials also continue to stretch our programs. Even so, we are grateful for how our programs continue to stand in the gap—offering education, health support, and Christ-centered care to children who depend on it most.
Amid these difficulties, we are delighted to share that some of our students recently excelled in a district academic competition–– a beautiful reminder of what is possible when children are consistently supported and given the opportunity to grow. We are deeply thankful for the faithful partnership of our supporters, whose generosity makes this work possible.
HEALTH
We are especially grateful this quarter for the return of the school feeding program across all VisionTrust programs in Liberia, made possible through dedicated support in securing additional funding. For many children, this daily meal is far more than nutrition—it is stability and care in a context where food insecurity is a daily reality.
The difference has been quickly noticeable. Children are attending school more consistently, showing improved focus, and having more energy throughout the day. We are thankful for this continued investment in their health and well-being, and for the way it is helping children thrive both in and out of the classroom.
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray for healing and full recovery as our local leader Steven recovers from a severe case of malaria. Ask the Lord to restore his health, renew his strength, and protect him from future illness so he can continue his ministry and logistics work effectively.
- Pray for a strong finish to the academic year, for the success of upcoming sports and fellowship events, and for the completion of our school building. Please also pray for the urgent need to expand into a senior high to better serve students who currently travel long distances for their education.
- Pray for one of our program leaders as he continues to faithfully serve the children in our care. Although he has received better offers elsewhere, he remains committed to this ministry.

CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
HEALTH
Recent heavy rains and flooding have created growing concerns for local agriculture. Many crops have been damaged or lost, which may significantly impact food availability in the months ahead. These disruptions may affect the stability of our feeding programs and the health and nutrition of the children who depend on them.
We ask for prayer for the Lord’s protection and provision—that He would make a way to overcome this anticipated deficit and sustain the children who depend on these vital resources.
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray for the provision of funding needed to complete important kitchen repairs, ensuring a safe and functional space for daily meal preparation.
- Pray for our students as they await and reflect on their recent examinations, that they would experience good results and continued academic growth.
- Pray for favorable rains this year, that they would lead to a healthy and abundant harvest to support families and strengthen food security in the community.

Child Spotlight
Nancy is a young girl who has shown encouraging growth and success within our program this quarter. She joined the program in 2023 and began in preschool, and she is now progressing well in Grade 2. Nancy enjoys school and continues to perform well in her studies, including strong exam results this term, showing steady academic progress.
Her growth is also reflected in her attitude and behavior. She listens attentively to her teachers and is committed to being a respectful, disciplined, and hardworking student. Nancy’s dedication and love for learning make her a promising young learner, and we are excited to see her continued progress in her educational journey.
CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
Over the past couple of months, our communities have gone through a very difficult season with heavy rains and flooding affecting many. Along with the damage and disruption this has caused, several areas have also been dealing with health concerns and outbreaks of disease, adding more strain to families who are already facing rising food prices and higher transportation costs.
Despite these challenges, there have been encouraging moments that we are truly thankful for. In March, children were able to return to school and all of our programs resumed, bringing a lot of joy, energy, and hope for the year ahead. We also had a heartfelt moment as two girls from Casa Luz returned to live with their relatives after nearly three years with us—they left with full hearts and deep gratitude for the love and care they experienced. Also, the second floor of Casa Luz is almost finished, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more girls into a safe and caring home soon. Through all of this, we continue to be reminded of God’s faithfulness in both the hard and the hopeful moments.
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray that God would continue to fill us with His love, strength, and compassion to faithfully carry this work forward each day.
- Pray for more people around the world to be stirred to join this mission, helping guide children toward God and a life of hope and purpose.
- Pray for the continued health and spiritual growth of the girls we serve, for God’s blessing over the families of our staff who serve them with love, and for protection and blessing over all our sponsors who make this vital work possible.

CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
Our communities continue to walk through a very difficult season, with many families feeling the strain of rising inflation, higher food and fuel prices, low agricultural yields, and limited income opportunities. For many, even meeting daily needs has become a real struggle, especially as ongoing instability and financial pressure continue to affect households. In some areas, rising insecurity, crime, and substance abuse have added to the uncertainty, with some families relocating in search of safer living conditions. Across orphanages and learning centers, these realities are deeply felt as teams work to meet growing needs while also navigating fuel shortages, power interruptions, and water scarcity.
Even so, we continue to see resilience and encouragement across our programs. Students remain committed to their studies, with strong academic work being recognized and celebrated. As final exams for the 2025–2026 school year take place, teachers are giving extra time and care to support them. We are also encouraged by continued growth in health support and moments of staff unity and planning that strengthen our shared vision.
HEALTH
We are grateful for continued improvements in clean water and hygiene across all programs. All children now drink filtered water through Sawyer filters, helping reduce waterborne illness, with regular maintenance keeping the systems reliable.
We are also thankful for upgraded sanitation facilities and new handwashing stations, now part of daily routines for children and staff. These simple but important improvements are strengthening health across both schools and the wider community.
PRAYER REQUEST
- Pray for the continued health and well-being of all the children and our colleagues
- Pray for the success of the summer Bible and English training––that it would run smoothly and be impactful for every student
- Pray for lasting peace throughout Myanmar, for stability to be restored, and for social conditions to improve so that families and communities can return to a place of normalcy and well-being
Child Spotlight
She joined the program in 2023–2024, at the age of 10, after experiencing significant family hardship, including the loss of her father and ongoing challenges at home. She was living in an unsafe situation with her mother and older sister, both of whom face serious health and mental health struggles, leaving the family without support or stability. She was welcomed into our learning center where she could receive safety, care, and emotional support.
Since joining, she has grown both spiritually and academically. She has embraced learning about Christ, finding comfort and stability through prayer and Bible study, and is known for her kindness toward others and willingness to help classmates. She is a focused and hardworking student who dreams of becoming a doctor so she can care for her family. Recently recognized for academic excellence, she continues to show resilience, compassion, and strong determination in all she does.

Lex is a vibrant 9-year-old student currently thriving in Grade 4, having joined the program in 2023. Since enrolling, he has quickly become a well-loved presence among both peers and staff, known for his warm personality, adaptability, and natural leadership qualities. Coming from a supportive family background, Lex has adjusted well to both the academic curriculum and the wider school community.
This quarter, Lex has shown remarkable growth, especially in his spiritual development. He actively participates in chapel sessions and demonstrates a sincere commitment to his faith. Lex confidently leads prayers, shares Bible stories with his classmates, and encourages others by reminding them to pray before exams, helping create a calm and focused environment. His maturity, kindness, and leadership continue to shine, making him a wonderful example of holistic growth within the program.
CHALLENGES & MOMENTS OF GRATITUDE
This term began positively but quickly shifted into a season of unpredictability with the weather. February brought intense heat and dry conditions that affected both attendance and farming, followed by heavy rains that caused flooding and made it very difficult for many children to reach school and discipleship lessons. In one area, around 15 students who normally cross a river were unable to attend consistently, and some families also experienced damage to their homes.
However, there is much to be grateful for. School and exam fees were paid on time, ensuring uninterrupted learning for all registered children. Feeding programs continued steadily, providing porridge and maheu that support both health and attendance, with many children remaining healthier as a result. Discipleship lessons also continued throughout the term with strong staff support and training, and we are encouraged by the installation of Starlink internet at two school sites, improving access to learning resources for students and the wider community.
PRAYER REQUESTS
- Pray for children’s safety and protection, especially during this time of increased insecurity and reported kidnappings.
- Pray for God’s guidance for the upcoming trimester for all students and families.
- Pray for one of the members of our community who lost their hut and toilet due to heavy rains.

He is known for his good behavior, emotional stability, and ability to remain focused even in difficult home circumstances. Academically, he is performing very well across all nine subjects and is able to work with minimal supervision from his teachers.
