VisionTrust has been working in the Dominican Republic since our ministry launched in 1997. We serve children and youth from preschool to high school , including an orphanage for abandoned and abused children, as well as a school for deaf and hearing-impaired children where they can learn among supportive peers and teachers fluent in sign language. We offer schools and learning centers in low-income communities in Santo Domingo to children surrounded by drugs, gangs, and prostitution. We also work in rural communities lacking access to stable work opportunities and proper medical care.  Children benefit from quality education, tutoring, spiritual guidance, food, clean water, and medical care.

Our Local Leader

Mariluz Heredia de Lopez developed her spirituality through a mentorship by a local church sponsored by Youth with a Mission (YWAM). After graduating from dental school in 2005, she began using her knowledge and skills to serve others. In 2008, Mariluz began working for VisionTrust Dominicana and in 2017 became the Country Director. Mariluz and her husband, Adiel, have a beautiful son named Emanuel. Her mission is to better the children’s lives through hope and love.
