Sandra

My name is Sandra and I’m from Zimbabwe. I’m a 20-year-old girl who grew up in a family of five with my mother, two sisters, and a brother; my father passed away. We were raised by my mother, who was a subsistence farmer. Raising us was never an easy task for her, and funding our education was even more challenging as she didn’t have a stable source of income. Praise to the almighty, she managed to meet our basic needs until 2014, when she was no longer able. Life got sour. I became a young girl with big dreams, but little understanding of how to achieve them.

When I was ten, my faith was still growing and my knowledge of the world was limited. I had potential, but, without guidance and opportunity, I wasn’t sure how far I could go. Then, I was blessed to become a beneficiary of a life-changing program: VisionTrust Zimbabwe.

When I first entered the program, I was physically and spiritually small, but full of energy. My faith was simple–I believed, but didn’t understand how deeply God could impact my life. The program didn’t just provide financial support, but also gave me structure, mentorship, and a community that nurtured both my mind and soul.

VisionTrust ensured I had proper nutrition, healthcare, and access to sports and physical activities. I grew stronger, healthier, and more confident. Still, the greatest transformation was spiritual. Through mentorship, Bible studies, and prayer sessions, my faith deepened. I learned that success wasn’t just about grades or achievements, it was about serving God and others with the gifts He gave me.

The program also emphasized education, discipline, and leadership. I went from being an average student to excelling in my studies because I had the resources, encouragement, and motivation to strive for excellence.

Today, I stand tall not only in stature, but also in faith and vision. I am a living testimony of how God uses opportunities and people to shape destinies! My spiritual maturity has guided my decisions, and kept me humble in success while resilient during challenges.

Now, I’m a proud student at the University of Zimbabwe, pursuing a degree in Health Education & Health Promotion, which will allow me to give back by educating communities on wellness, just as I was once nurtured in body and spirit. I am in the Mukundi Program, which holds the same vision and goals as VisionTrust. My dream is to impact lives the same way VisionTrust and Mukundi Zimbabwe have impacted mine!

Looking back, I see how every step was divinely orchestrated. The little girl who once wondered about her future is now a virtuous lady, walking confidently in her purpose. I am grateful to VisionTrust, my mentors, and, above all, God, who made this journey possible.

To anyone doubting their potential: my story is proof that–with faith, opportunity, and hard work–no dream is too big. The best is yet to come!
