My family began sponsoring a 5-year old girl at the Cruz Blanca learning center in 2015. My daughters and I have been blessed with opportunities to annually visit her at the learning center as well as in her home. With this year’s seventh visit, her dad said his youngest daughter barely slept due to her excitement to see “mi amigo Miguel.”

Deepening this relationship is a major draw for me to participate in this short-term mission trip. The dad has made it a priority to be home for our annual visits. That is incredibly humbling. Conversations with the family pick up where the prior year left off. It is always an emotional goodbye. In the intervening months, we exchange letters of support and we pray for one another. God is alive and with the help of the learning center teachers and staff, is reshaping the culture in Cruz Blanca one child/family at a time.
